PREFACE ONDOARTFEST
ONDOARTFEST is an Ondo State annual indigenous and ethnic festival of arts, showcase of diverse cultural heritage, exhibitionparade of over 5000 visual art pieces/sculptures, trado-modern carnival-feast from 18 LGAs, agrotourism, mountain racing, afromodern fashion show carnival, sites seeing, ethnotourism, investment window, employment generation and networking. It’s an annual festive rallying point for colourful display of a mix cultural multi-ethnic state, with many decades of peaceful co-existence, peopled predominantly by Yoruba’s from Akoko, Akuro, Apo, Ikate, Ikare, Ondo, owo and a minority speaking law and Urhobo The Ondo Art & Cultural Festival – ONDOARTFEST, will bring together the array of activities that will relate brands, products and services to a mass flood of people and networks, providing a platform for enhancing brand visibility and top-of-the-mind for brand, products and services.
THE JOURNEY…
The concept was conceived by a quintessential curator and multimedia consultant. Mr. Seyi Paul Oshodi, the CEO, Oshodi Arts Gallery one of the leading arts galleries in Africa.
For the first time in the entire south-west of Nigeria an all-encompassing artform-concepts of this magnitude was weaves and executed not only to generate unimaginable entertainment block across the state, but to address various questions confronting the powers and socio-economic potentials of arts , culture and tourism shortly after modifying the concept and the contents well mapped out, they felt government involvement was necessarily important, that was how Mr. Governor approved the festival and five man committee was inaugurated
The Concept of TOGETHERNESS
The Concept of TOGETHERNESS is taking a centre stage of the festival experience. This is why the event annually take place in December, to bring home all sons and daughters of the State across the country and from the diaspora to reunite, play, eat, dance, sing and celebrate the people and the alluring cultures of this great state. Again, the epoch making occasion doesn’t only attract cultural troupes and people from other Yoruba States, it is an amazing destination and world class festival for friends, visitors and
tourists across Nigeria and beyond.
Admittedly, the drive for peace and unity is very pronounced in the Nigerian project, ONDOARTFEST is a panacea for the country’s togetherness campaign and we are committed to interpreting this in a highly informing and entertaining manner through our popular cultures, visual and performing arts.
Pre-Event Activities…
1 MEDIA PLAN & PROMOTIONS
Event of this nature requires active media and effective promotion. Before the end of the second quarter of the year, our media campaign/promotion will kick off in earnest to give vent to effective awareness and support.
2 MEDIA TOUR
A month before the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Commissioner for Culture & Tourism and that of Works will take invited Journalists/media groups from outside the state alongside with Ondo Artfest team on a comprehensive media tour around the State on not just tourism destinations, but on various capital projects(infrastructures) of the present administration.
3 MEDIA LAUNCH/WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE
Two weeks before the event, there will be high powered media launch and press conference to unveil the second edition concept and to fully brief the public on how this interesting event will be conducted.
