After FESTAC in 1977, we haven’t really experienced a broad-brush cultural event that rolls out an all-encompassing arts form in Nigeria, arguably, various attempts are made in isolation to either showcase a particular area of culture or to commemorate an annual occasions and most cases treated with foreign costumes and Western theatrical properties; therefore leaving room for mitigating criticism concerning the construct of our cultural potential.
ONDOFEST 2018 is designed to address various questions concerning our cultural policy, the vitality of Nigerian arts and downrightly demonstrate the powers of unity for nation building. Ondo Arts & Cultural Festival is a signature event-project conceptualized by one of the leading creative companies in Nigeria, Oshodi Arts Gallery, a subsidiary of J & P Vanarts limited. ONDOARTFEST is an Ondo State annual indigenous and ethnic festival of arts, showcase of diverse cultural heritage, exhibitionparade of over 5000 visual art pieces/sculptures, trado-modern carnival-feast from 18 LGAs, agrotourism, mountain racing, afromodern fashion show carnival, sites seeing, ethnotourism, investment window, employment generation and networking. It’s an annual festive rallying point for colourful display of a mix cultural multi-ethnic state, with many decades of peaceful co-existence, peopled predominantly by Yoruba’s from Akoko, Akuro, Apo, Ikate, Ikare, Ondo, owo and a minority speaking law and Urhobo

Festival Backgroud
The maiden edition of the festival came up successfully in 2018 with a lasting impression, we have done three editions with great success, Ondo Artfest is ethnotourism, arts, culture and carnival bliss organized by Oshodi Art Gallery in partnership with Ondo State Government. The project was designed for annual celebration and as what was to become the panacea for unity and progress of the cultural mix of the people of the State. The second edition-this year promises to give a larger scale and more interesting interpretation to the event with various content- attractions to finally position Ondo State as first choice for tourists and creative arts investors. ONDO ARTFEST 2019 was slated for 17 to 19th December, there was no festival 2020 due to covid-19 pandemic, and 2021 was also slated for 21″ to 23″, December 2021
Ondo State is geographically blessed with enviable human and natural resources; from the amazingly alluring touristic elements across the State, to reach cultural heritage and array of creative minds and intelligentsias. The line ups of this year’s event are pretty loud, twenty five state troupes and sixteen foreign countries are billed to participate, the carnival session will be amazing, the we are looking at using about ten thousand models for the float with elegant African and modern costumes. The Cultural Day will be equally eventful; all Local Government Areas across Ondo State will feature in the parade galore and various cultural performances. Other interesting contents of the festival are Art Exhibition-with five thousand artworks, Film show, Investment Conference,, Comedy & Music concert and the Grand Finale/Dinner & Award Night. Other side attractions will be Mountain Racing, Market Expo, Media Tour and youth competitions. Admittedly, the entire plan is aimed at achieving the best standard for the festival, as the event will attract a huge spectrum of people across the country and beyond.
